What are the rules for your Leagues/Tournaments?


  • Doubles play:

    • Match play will consist of 3 games with winner being whichever teams wins most games of the 3

    • Each cornhole team will have 4 bags of one color

    • All cornhole bags will begin at one end 

    • A flip of the bag will determine who will throw first in round one or side of the board they would like

    • The team who has first throw honors will begin by throwing a cornhole bag to the opposite board

    • A cornhole player may throw anywhere behind the front of the cornhole board on the side they are throwing from

    • Players must alternate throws until all 8 cornhole bags are thrown

    • Count the net difference of points scored during the round. If you have not reached 21 points, the next round begins until a team reaches 21 point mark

    • The team that scores the highest point total from previous round will have honors of throwing first

    • There is no mercy rule

    • Partners will stand opposite cornhole boards on the same side of the board

    • Matches that run long in their time slot (45 minutes) can be cut short at the discretion of the monitor



  • Team with the highest round score adds difference of the two scores to their overall game score

  • The team who wins the round is given the first throw into the next round

  • If both teams throw the same round score, the game score stays the same and first throw honors stay with the team who had it in previous round

  • 3 Points for a cornhole bag in the hole

  • 1 point for a cornhole bag that is on the playing surface(board)

  • 1 point for a cornhole bag that is hanging into the hole and on playing surface

  • 1 point for a cornhole bag that is hanging off the edge of playing surface but not touching the ground

  • 0 points for a cornhole bag is on playing surface, but also touching the ground

  • 0 points for a cornhole bag that is hanging off the front of the playing surface and also resting on the ground

  • 0 points for a cornhole bag that hits the ground then lands on playing surface


Cornhole Gameplay Fouls:

  • A player’s foot may not go past the front of the cornhole board while throwing

  • A player may not go out of turn, if player does commit foul, the bag is omitted and will not count

  • Overall Record

  • Head-to-Head

  • Most points Scored

  • Fewest Points Against

  • Bag Flip


Do you provide bags or do we bring our own bags?

Pennsylvania Cornhole League are BYOB events but in the case you do not have a set of your own bags for beginning players, we will have extra ACL approved bags that will be provided. Please visit for ACL-Approved bags.
